Earlier this week, it was my honor to bring forward a resolution to the Georgia College Staff Council to honor Eve. I wanted to share the text, and it is posted below.
WHEREAS, Georgia College mourns the loss of Dorothy “Eve” Puckett, who passed away on October 14, 2015 and was laid to rest following a memorial service on October 16, 2015 in the Georgia College Centennial Center, and
WHEREAS, Eve received multiple undergraduate and graduate degrees both from Georgia College and our sister institutions within the University System of Georgia, and
WHEREAS, Eve had devoted her professional life to Georgia College for over 30 years, serving most recently as the Conflict Resolution Specialist and Title IX Coordinator for the Office of Human Resources, and
WHEREAS, Eve had previously worked as an instructor, member of University Housing, the GIVE Center, and in many other roles on campus, and
WHEREAS, Eve served both as formal and informal advisor and mentor to countless students and student organizations across campus including the Student Government Association and the Kappa Alpha Order, and
WHEREAS, Eve was a member of Georgia College Staff Council and provided her time, wisdom, and knowledge liberally in service of this organization and the institution, and
WHEREAS, Eve inspired those around her, and will be long remembered for her love of others, and of Georgia College.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GEORGIA COLLEGE STAFF COUNCIL that the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Eve Puckett and express their deepest and most sincere regret at her passing.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of Staff Council is directed to forward copies of this resolution to the family of Dorothy “Eve” Puckett.
